Data Sharing Agreements
There are often occasions when you need to share data with other organisations, for example, if you contract an organisation to contact your customers to conduct a customer satisfaction survey. If you share personal data with another organisation you still have a responsibility, as the data controller, to make sure it’s processed lawfully. Establishing a data sharing agreement with the organisation is essential so that both parties know the limit of the processing that is taking place and understand how and where that processing will take place.
When the GDPR comes into effect on 25th May 2018 there will be additional responsibilities placed on data controllers and processors to ensure the secure processing of personal data. Data sharing agreements will help both parties to be clear about the processing that is expected and help with their new responsibility of accountability in GDPR.
We can help you setup appropriate data sharing agreements with your partner organisations to ensure that both parties understand their obligations.
